ZFP568 is a tandem zinc finger array involved in mouse embryonic regulation of insulin-like growth factor 2 (Igf2-P0). Crystallographic analysis of mouse ZFP568 by Patel et al. 2018 (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cell.2018.02.058) updated established principles of the DNA recognition process by zinc finger arrays, particularly of large tandem arrays (>10 fingers) near AT-rich sequences. This model first aims to demonstrate canonical recognition interactions mediated by ZFP568, and then contrast them to some noncanonical interactions discovered by Patel et al. The model is derived from PDB 5V3J. Separate colour schemes have been used for the DNA strand and ZFP568 protein. For ZFP568: cyan = carbon, blue = nitrogen, red = oxygen, orange = sulfur. For DNA: cyan = carbon, pink = nitrogen, red = oxygen, cyan = carbon, white = phosphorus. Zinc = grey. H-bonds = yellow dotted lines.
