Description: This is a specimen from the famous Tin mine, Altenberg (Germany), and is represented by yellow prismatic crystals of Pyknite (variety of Topaz) in association with black-green ‘Zinnwaldite’. The Zinnwaldite was discredited as a mineral species (Rieder et al., 1998 - Nomenclature of the Micas), and is reconsidered as a trioctahedral micas on (or close to) the Siderophyllite-Polylithionite join (dark micas containing lithium). In this specimen, the ‘Zinnwaldite’ crystals are silver-grey platy.
