More model informationAn incomplete copper alloy Colchester derivative Polden Hill brooch of Roman date (AD 80-120).
Only the head, one wing and bow remain. The right hand wing is partially remaining with the spring, pin, foot and catch plate missing. A semi-circular end cap is present at the end of the wing. The bow head is slightly angular (comma shaped). Located at the reverse of the head is a broadly oval concave recess where the spring would have been held in place. The bow tapers from the head to a pointed damaged and incomplete foot. A vertical ridge runs the length of the bow.
