“Will Rogers on Horseback” signed C.M. Russell bronze - 10 ” high by 10.5” long by 4.5” wide on a 2.5” high x 10.25” long x 6.25” wide marble base.
The artist, Charles Marion Russell (1864-1926) was also known as C. M. Russell, Charlie Russell, and “Kid” Russell. Russell was an artist of the Old American West. Charlie Russell created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Indians, and landscapes set in the Western United States and in Alberta, Canada, in addition to bronze sculptures.
Will Rogers was a dear friend to Charles Russell. In this sculpture he pays homage to Will Rogers riding his favorite horse, Soapsuds.
The original Will Rogers on Horseback was sculpted was sculpted the size of 21” high by 21” long by 11” wide. This Charlie Russell Sculpture is museum quality and was hand cast in American bronze using the lost wax method and was hand finished. The C. M. Russell Museum Complex located in Great Falls, Montana, houses more than 2,000 Russell artworks, personal objects, and artifacts.
