Outcrop on private farmland to the NE of Capheaton, Northumberland.
This stone is referenced ‘West Shaftoe Farm 2a’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA) and is described as having ‘one cup and possible second one’. NADRAP added the record to ERA in 2008, noting:
‘The Beckensall Archive identifies this is a rock art panel with a single cup mark. This cup mark could not be identified during NADRAP recording. Although there are a number of depressions across the undulating surface, and some on vertical sides, most are shallow and amorphous in shape and are accompanied at the edge by a pronounced weathering channel.’
No cup-like depressions are apparent on this 3D model.
