West Lordenshaw 2c Carving (May 2006)3D Model
One of the most well-known rock art panels in England, this carving is W of Lordenshaw hillfort, on Garleigh Moor, S of Rothbury, Northumberland.
Referenced ‘West Lordenshaw 2c’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA), this carving is also known as ‘Lordenshaw Main Rock’.
This decimated model displaying just the carved surface shows a complex design of cups, rings and grooves. Differences in style and levels of preservation between motifs may hint at numerous carvers over a period time. This model also appears to show some previously unrecorded extremely faint motifs, hinting at superimposition.
