An incomplete, copper alloy harness pendant of Medieval date (c. AD 1300-1400).
The object is circular in plan, though there seems to be a sections missing from the rim from 1 o’clock to 3 o’clock, from half-past-five to 7 o’clock, and from 9 o’clock to 11 o’clock. The outer face of the harness pendant is decorated with an extremely worn moulded lion’s head. Most of the features of the lion’s head have been worn away, leaving only a general shape and remnants of the ridged mane. There are the remnants of a raised rim around the edge of the circular plate. The reverse is worn, but appears to be undecorated. At the top of the plate, there is the remnant of a transverse suspension loop that is rectangular in cross section - the loop itself is missing, but the shaft that it was attached to is still in tact.
