A wall monument (TN034-013005-) with box tomb beneath, dedicated to Walter Burke of the territory of Ileagh/Illeigh (Borrisoleigh/Buiríos Ó Luigheach/Burgage of the territory of O’Lea or I‑leagh) that was carved in 1623 by stone sculptor Patrick Kerin. The memorial was inserted into the internal face of the northern wall of the nave of the medieval church ruins (TN034-013001-) in Glenkeen/Glankeene (Gleann Caoin/pleasant glen) graveyard (TN034-013003-), Kilnamanagh Barony, Co. Tipperary. The church ruins and graveyard stands in an upland valley, 2.2km north-west of the village and castle of Borrisoleigh (TN034-046001-), which was the residence of Walter Burke. In 1640, ‘Richard Bourke al[ia]s McWalter [Son of Walter] of Borres Ileagh Esqr. [an] Irish Papist’ was listed as the owner of the castle and lands of Borrisoleigh which included 4,000 Irish acres of land. The Gaelic territory of Ileagh is today represented by the Parish of Glenkeen/Glankeen.
