Wallington Newhouses G (May 2007)3D Model
Relocated small stone found on private farmland near Wallington, Northumberland.
This is one of a number of small artificially marked stones recorded on the Beckensall Archive (BA) in the Wallington Newhouses area. These small portables and a number of querns were found near a probable Romano – British settlement. Although the exact BA reference isn’t known, NADRAP added the record to ERA as ‘Wallington Newhouses g’ describing:
‘A small rounded boulder which may have been shaped along one very straight edge. A single large (0.10 m diameter) peck marked cup occupies most of one of the flatter surfaces. The cup is very circular and flat bottomed suggesting a greater degree of finishing than others in the group.’
