Volcaniclastic Kimberlite breccia (igneous rock)3D ModelNoAI
Locality: McArthur Basin, Australia
No.: 8861
Size: 7.5 x 6.5 x 4 cm
Type: Igneous intrusive (plutonic) rock
Description: Volcaniclastic Kimberlite breccia is a type of rock formed by explosive volcanic activity, which can be found in kimberlite pipes. It is a mixture of angular to rounded fragments of country rock (the surrounding rock), volcaniclastic material, and Kimberlite.
Kimberlite rocks are very rare and unique plutonic rocks, often associated with Diamonds, and are typically dark-colored. They are rich in magnesium, potassium, and iron, and composed primarily of Olivine, Phlogopite, and Serpentine.
Essential minerals: olivine, phlogopite, serpentine, pyroxene, garnet.
Accessory minerals: spinel, ilmenite, diamond, chromite, apatite, etc.
