Table wares of the Roman period
Terra sigillata tardo Padana-plate with vertical rim shape Consp. 20.4. With central stamp (1) »C T() SVC()« in planta pedis (OCK 2028: approx. 30–80 CE) and appliqué decoration of leaf (2) garlands (3) and masks (4). The impression of a thumb and all four fingers (5) is visible on the outside of the footring indicating that the plate was turned upside down and held by the footring in order to dip it into the engobe.
Diameter of mouth: 17 cm; height: 4,4 cm.
The plate was deposited as a burial object in a cremation burial of the southwestern necropolis of the municipium Claudium Virunum (Zollfeld, Carinthia, AT).
