The drive of war causes man to seek out advancements in order to better the opposing force; at the time of World War I there was such a battle for aerospace amelioration.
The Vickers Vimy was an aeroplane that was first produced and flown in 1919, shortly after World War I. It has a maximum speed of 103 mph and could fly on average 910 miles from its origin. Compared to the Blackburn R.T.1 Kangaroo it had an increased speed by a factor of 5 mph and an increased maximum flight distance by a factor of 423, almost doubling the previous distance.
Comparing the Vickers Vimy to the Farman MF.11 Shorthorn, the plane from 1914 or 5 years previous when World War 1 started, it is seen that the Vickers Vimy out performs the Farman MF.11 Shorthorn with its increased speed, it was increased by 37 mph, and its increased maximum flight distance, it was increased by 693 miles.
