The Valserkir, neither living nor dead, are warriors brought forth from countless battles. As strong fanatical warriors, the Valserkir are zealous in their pursuit to keep any living creature away from past battlefields. It is said that when a great warrior falls into battle-trance during war under a red sky, the Gods see fit to choose their next Valserkir.
For the design of this boss, I was researching a lot of Old Norse Folklore. I was inspired by “Starkad”, the eight-armed giant, and “Berserkers”, ferocious pelt-wearing warriors. I also took inspiration from what I’ve seen from the Elden Ring release trailers, such as the red hair, symbols, cracked smith’s torso, and golden/rusty parts of the Valkyrie’s skin. I was also inspired by the great design of Anato Finnstark’s “Eclipse’s Herald”.
I created the name “Valserkir” from the Old Norse word “valr”, meaning “the fallen”, and “serkir”, meaning “shirt” or “gown”.
