Gulo gulo, the wolverine, is a carnivorous mustelid mammal closely related to ferrets, weasels, and martens. The wolverine is the largest land-dwelling mustelid and resembles a small bear the size of a medium-sized dog, and has a range across the northern parts of North America, Asia, and Europe. Genetic analysis indicates that the wolverine originated during the last glacial maximum in Beringia, the land bridge between North America and Asia that formed due to sea level decrease and ice sheets. This specimen shows most of the lower jaw.
