Oreodontidae, currently classified as Merycoidodontoidea, are a varied group of extinct even-toed ungulates from the late Eocene to Miocene, and were found throughout North America. They had four-toed hooves and were bulky animals, resembling pigs or sheep, and could range in size from sheep to cows. Despite these physical resemblances, they are more closely related to modern-day camels. This specimen is a skull and lower jaw, warped from fossilization.
