Traditional end of season crew photograph with a modern techno twist. This summer 15 students and 2 teaching assistants participated in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Department of Archaeology and Anthropology archaeological field training program or field school. The focus of excavations was the Native American Late Preshistoric period Oneota Culture Tremaine Site near Holmen, WI.
This year in addtion to the typical end of season field crew photo, we decided to scan the entire crew. A fititng final model after a season which created over 100 3D scans using SfM photogrammetry to document the archaeological remains.
My first real attempt to scan people with photogrammetry. Underlying geometry is not great and some bluring of the texture becuase of slight motion between photos, but its not easy for 17 people to remain perfectly still for 82 photographs.
Created from 82 photographs (Canon EOS Rebel T7i) using Metashape 1.7.0. June 30, 2021.
