Townparks (Henry St) - Modern Sheela3D ModelNoAI
Likely one of a number of carvigns made in the 00s. This Sheela-na-Gig is a modern carving located on the wall of 24 Henry St. Galway City. Local enquires have not shed any light on the origin of the carving which appears on a 18th C. house which has been modernised and the stone work repointed. The carving is set to the wall with lime cement holding it in place. The head is round with large circular hollow and raised eyes, large lips shape the mouth and there is a faint trace of a nose. A short neck above the clavicle and no sign of breasts. The body is muscular. The arms extend down along the body and rest on the upper thighs. The vulva extends from the naval in a pear shape and the legs are extended out and bent at the knees downwards with feet pointing down. Possibly a replica of the Burgesbeg carving from Tipperary https://skfb.ly/6SHzo
