Our project focuses on capacity building and training for local communities within the corridor area to ensure sustainable management of community land. Key activities include: Monitoring and Ranger Patrols: Training 24 community rangers (10 with existing experience) and 6 Ecoguards in advanced monitoring techniques, ensuring data collection accuracy. Conducting a GIS-based data processing/analysis workshop for 6 local staff members, utilizing SMART Conservation software for planning and monitoring activities. Implementing Ranger Based Monitoring to track the abundance and movements of wildlife, including Cross River gorillas, chimpanzees, and forest elephants, while monitoring illegal activities and vegetation dynamics. Development of Forest Management Plans: Providing training and capacity development for 4 Tofala-Mone Rainforest Corridor Management Committees in forest management and monitoring data interpretation.
