For my themed props, I decided to choose a cave exploration or spelunking theme. The unifying elements between the props themselves are going to be a stylized, painterly look reminiscent of Overwatch’s art style or The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. One of my favorite of the set is the crystalline rock formation. When you have a level in a game that takes place somewhere without any natural light like a cave, you have to think about your options for lighting up the area. One of the ways this can be achieved is by making objects “bioluminescent.” This can be done with lighting bugs, glowing mushrooms, or in this case, glowing crystals. These crystals are all set to pivot around the center of the rock base, allowing for easy variations. In caves, there is a multitude of lifeforms that lurk in the darkness. Among the most common cavern flora is the mushroom. These specific mushrooms are bioluminescent in order to add more diverse light sources to different areas of the cave.
