More model informationMetope the Torture of Sisyphus from the Heraion at Foce del Sele, Capaccio-Paestum, Italy. Sisyphus is depicted pushing a stone up a steep hill as punishment for tricking Zeus and Hades. Each time the he reached the top of the hill the stone would roll back down. Here a winged demon is depicted attacking him from behind. Carved in raised relief in a local sandstone. Reconstructed from fragments of a structure dated to the second half of the 6th century B.C.
