More model informationThe Old Spanish Chimney, and a nearby well, is thought to date back to 1671 and was orginially part of a building used during quarrying efforts. The building was probably constructed by the overseer of quarrying activities, Alonso Diaz Mejia, for himself or as a barracks for workers. The coquina quarry is located just around the corner in today’s Anastasia State Park.
