The Goddess Inanna is Part of Sculptor Jackie Braitman’s “I Can Soar” series. Each piece is named after a “badd-ass” goddess. This piece is named after Inanna - Sumarian Goddess of love, beauty, sex, war & justice.
Braitman’s work is a true marriage of today’s digital age and the craftsmanship long associated with fine art. Her work starts and finishes with handwork. Each piece starts with a hand-sculpted wax model that captures the basic figure. It is then digitized and much of the creative effort lies in digital manipulation of the figure and the slicing of the figure to reinforce the sense of motion and rhythm. The final manufacture requires machine files to instruct a computer controlled machine how to cut the steel pieces.
This piece is designed for Corten, self-Weathering steel at 100” tall x 39” x 32”. Corten or self-weathering steel will have a natural orangy-rust patin. Unlike normal steel, this layer of rust will protect the steel from rusting further.
