A cast iron fish on the seafront of the small fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay, North Yorkshire. This unusual piece of maritime heritage is used as a donation box for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and was given to the town by Captain Isaac Mills, a local ship owner, in 1887. According to Historic England it is likely the oldest RNLI collection box still in service. ‘The Fish’ is well known as a local landmark, though it is closely surrounded by iron railings which made it a pain to access and photograph for the model. It serves as a reminder that the coastal fishing industry was, and still can be, a dangerous occupation.
163 images taken in January 2020, processed in Metashape and touched up with Blender. I really can’t be bothered to filter the railing imprints out of the texture, the but the fish itself is an interesting asset.
