More model informationcAMP responsive element-binding protein (CREB) regulates gene transcription in many signaling pathways which ensure the normal functioning of human body. This model illustrates the intermolecular interactions which contribute to the dimerisation of CREB as well as its binding with Somatostatin cAMP responsive element (SSCRE) in the genome. Homodimerisation is favourable due to the formation of interhelical and intersubunit hydrogen bonding. Multiple interactions with the phosphate backbone and the presence of a divalent, hexahydrated magneisum ion enhanced the DNA binding.
