The Roman Bath House at Bearsden was excavated in the early 1970’s during the construction of flats. The Bath House was part of a fort, now covered by the flats, which was one of several which formed part of the Antonine Wall. The Antonine Wall formed the Roman Empire’s north-western frontier and its construction was ordered by the Emperor Antoninus Pius in AD 140 The wall ran for 37 miles (60km) across the central belt of Scotland, from Bo’ness on the Firth of Forth to Old Kilpatrick on the River Clyde.
