Artec Leo is a 3D scanner that produces precise geometric data with high-quality texture. Its 2.4 megapixel camera with a color depth of 24 bits per pixel captures more colors than the human eye can distinguish at high resolution. Still, for photorealistic texture and unbeatable geometry you may want to combine Leo’s industry leading scanning technology with the capabilities of your own camera. Artec Studio’s Photo Texture feature makes this easy. To demo the feature, we scanned this vase with Leo, took a few dozen photographs on an iPhone, and combined them in Artec Studio 16. The whole process took about 22 minutes, four to scan the vase, six to photograph it, and twelve to process in Artec Studio 16. In the end, the intricate patterns and vibrant colors were all accurately captured in splendid detail. The geometry is even better. A close look will reveal the subtle contours of the vase’s surface, and even the barely noticeable seam along which its two symmetrical halves are connected.
