Tabby Mortar Cistern in Everglades3D ModelNoAI
3D point cloud data from survey of an historic double cistern made from tabby and lime mortar located in the Everglades National Park on Wood Key. The cistern structure is filled and buried with other the compartment ledges showing. This structure is part of the remains of an early pioneer homestead and would have been used for water rentention and agriculture. Cursive writing that was etched into the wet tabby mortar on the ledge of the cistern says “May 17th 1918 Made By E. J. Hamilton and Sons”. There is additional writing on the second compartment that reads “Made by E. J. Hamilton febary [sic] 11th 1910”.
Site was 3D scanned using TLS survey, with close range structured light scanning performed along the cistern’s exposed area where writing was noted.
