More model informationThis is a replica two-handed sword in 16th century style with a steel blade and cross-guard and wooden handle. The blade is blunt, straight and uniform in width. The cruciform cross-guard consists of two side bars ending in a fleur-de-lis style decoration and two loops at the broadsides of the blade.
Two large pieces of the wooden handle are missing and there are large cracks in it. Thin metal wire is wrapped around the base of the handle – this is a later addition and presumably to stabilise the cracks in the wood. Another copper wire is wedged between the handle and hilt. The pommel is missing, and the end of the tang is visible.
