More model informationSunken huts were used for production purposes, such as weaving, and are found at most early medieval sites. The problem with current reconstructions of the archaeological traces is that sunken huts are shown to be very closed so there is very little light in such a sunken hut. At the same time, weaving is a precise activity that requires sufficient light. We have solved this somewhat by adding an open roof to make the smoke of the fire disappear and at the same time provide more incoming light. Historical parks of the early medieval time, such as Campus Galli, also search for alternative interpretations that allow them to re-enact weaving or other activities of that time.
