More model informationSt Mary’s Church was the first post reformation Catholic Church to be established on South Uist in c. 1732 following the first re-appointment of a parish Priest, Fr. Alexander Forrester. The original building was a combined church and house, sited on a small peninsula of Loch Cille Bhànnain sothis model only represents the Church protion of the ruins at the site now. The ruin is the subject of another model in my collection. This model was created by (or for) Fr. Colin MacInnes, the current parish Priest on Benbecula. It can be seen at St. Mary’s Church at Griminis, Benbecula adjacent to the car park area.
