More model informationVirtual Reality can be viewed as a different form of reality in which we are able to interact with a programmed environment by leaving or enhancing our physical body and adopting a virtual Body-Image within the program. This Body-Image we borrow temporarily, like a skin or an avatar, is an object in this alternative reality, which becomes the mediating factor of our agency within the alternative reality. Thus our experience in this virtual reality is not only defined by the neural correlates of our ‘normal’ perception, nor simply the nature of the programmed environment, but additionally by the characteristics of the particular Body-Image we take on.
