More model informationThe SS Lynburn was a cargo steamship built in 1917 by Williamson R. & Son and measuring 50.6m long, 8.2 m wide and 3.4m high. On the 29th August 1917, while on a voyage from Cork to Whitehaven carrying a cargo of pitwood, the SS Lynburn struck a mine and sank in St. George´s Channel, ½ mile SE from the North Arklow Light Vessel. The mine was laid by the German submarine UC-75. 8 lives were lost.
