On the night of 10th November 1899, the SS Belgique was on a voyage from Antwerp in Belgium to Alexandria in Egypt when she sank in a strong gale close to Guernsey with ten Cairo tramcars, all built in Belgium. Following dives on 9 and 10 October 2023, a group of friends from Britain and Germany identified this wreck as the SS Belgique.
