Carved outcrop on Snook Bank, north of Longframlington, Northumberland.
Snook Bank is an area rich in archaeological remains from prehistory through to fairly modern times when millstones were extracted. This section of carved exposure is referenced ‘Snook Bank 4b(ii)’ on the Beckensall Archive and added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. Both archives record similar motifs consisting of cup with ring and linear grooves. The motifs appear similar to ‘Snook Bank 4b(i)’ with grooves forming sub rectangular designs. This model shows areas of carving not recorded before, but misses some previously drawn by Stan Beckensall.
