Excavated from the remains of dwelling No.4 in the shell mound pit group on Bentenjima, Nemuro City, Hokkaido. Late Okhotsk culture (around 8th to 9th century). Similar materials have been found in the middle reaches of the Amur River. It is thought that it was brought to Hokkaido through trade from the Mòhé culture. At the time of excavation, a product was found that had a hole drilled into the end of the tooth, which is believed to be that of a fox. It seems that it played the role of the bell tongue that made the sound of the small bell.
