Site 2: Te Karaka3D Model
A LiDAR-derived digital elevation model of the river terraces surrounding Te Karaka, Gisborne District, New Zealand. While the model is animated, the idea is to pause the animation and move the time slider to one of the three segments in time where topography, aerial photo (2018) and terrace maps (Berryman et al., 2000) are draped on the mesh. Inspect the four stratigraphic sections, where the composition of the terrace sequences has been documented. Have a read of the original article, below. The model domain is 10.14 km (E-W) by 11.42 km (N-S) in extent. It has been scaled by a factor of 0.01 (horiz), and 0.02 (vert), thus 2x vertical exaggeration to emphasize the terraces.
