This prehistoric carved rock can be found close to Rushy Beck in the Burley Moor area of Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.
In the 2003 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’, Boughey & Vickerman reference the stone IAG374 and describe:
‘Medium-sized, curved, low, smooth grit rock. Seven cups.’
The CSI: Rombalds Moor project added the record ‘Rushy Beck 01’ to ERA in 2013, noting an additional cup.
Applying virtual light, opens up the possibility that directional light and the stone’s topography may have influenced motif placement to incorporate natural rings and linear grooves.
