More model informationRubha Gaisinis area has built heritage from Neolithic to modern day.
This is a 19th Century stone built thatched cottage on a secludud headland. It is shown on OS first edition (surveyed 1878) as a roofless building but has been brought back into use.
Although it looks like an idyllic off-grid holiday option, on closer inspection, its current usage is as a feed store and part time byre, although seems to be perfectly air conditioned!
Nearby is a cleared beach and boat nausts, clearly associated with this building and suggests a historic connection with kelp production. The nearest road is now less than half a kilometer, but the road was only built in the late 20th Century - before that, all shopping etc would be brought in using a row-boat.
