More model informationThe remains of an old turf walled building. Walls are still up to half a metre high and the raised floor level suggests this is from demolition of walls mostly into the building’s footprint. Building is right on the coastal edge, adjacent to a bay cleared of boulders for safe boat access.
Impossible to be certain of age without excavation and ? C14 testing. Turf walled buildings have been used extensively since Norse times until the early part of last century. Usually there is a stone setting to stabilise the walls and this can be all that remains from very early structures.
