On display at the entrance to the F.E. McWilliam Gallery, Banbridge is the sculpture, entitled, ‘Romulus and Seamus’ by John Kindness.
Kindness has taken the Roman myth of Romulus and Remus, founders of Rome and given it an Irish twist. The internationally renowned artist, John Kindness, was born in Belfast in 1951. He attended the Belfast College of Art and now lives and works in London. John works in a range of media including sculpture and painting and often contrasts material, image and reference in an unusual and humorous way. ‘Romulus and Seamus’ which he created in 1992, was first gifted to the F.E. McWilliam Gallery by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland in 2012.
