More model informationI was tasked with re-designing the buckle for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The two pieces were printed in castable material and later casted in silver (crest) and brass (buckle). The buckle is to be gilded.
I did the original design in Zbrush, retopo in Maya. After finishing the 3D printable object I added UVs in Maya and textured in Substance Painter. As the final use of this model is 3D printing, I kept the poly count relatively high.
The crest was made intentionaly flat (as oposed to fitting the buckle surface) to facilitate printing. The finished crest is made to fit by appliying pressure.
