Queen Victoria Memorial, Queen Victoria Gardens, sculpted by James White, and unveiled by Governor James Madden in 1907. Victoria sits aloft the globe, with the virtues of Wisdom, Progress, History and Justice serving to elevate the sovereign and the world of her empire. The arrangement is very much an exemplary expression of the self-confident mythology of British imperialism in the late Victorian and early Edwardian era.
