Dr. G. G. Adams’s quassia cup. Lathe-turned wooden cup with a pedestal base and cylindrical body with flared lip. Includes manufacturer markings: “[?][…] by a negro slav[e] named QUASSIA,” “Dr. G. G. ADAMS. – FOR FEVER & AGUE, DYSPEPSIA, [?] TION, HEADACHE, & DEBILITY,” and “FOR DYSPEPSIA AND INDIGESTION, Use before meals. For Piles [?] a pinch of Lac Sul[?][…] water two or [?][…] a day. – [?][…]WORMS, [?][…]water, stand in Cup [?][…] 5 minutes before giving.” A tonic is created by steeping water in the cup to promote appetite and digestion.
