Geographical coordinates: N 50 ° 37′ 25.88″ E 69 ° 51′ 55.58″ h 307.4 m. Kanykei mausoleum is located 4 km north of Orkendeu village of Korgalzhyn district on the right bank of the river Nura on the territory of the modern Kazakh cemetery. The monument has considerable destruction: one quarter of the total volume has collapsed, the walls are badly whitewashed, the entrance chamber is half destroyed. An archaic type of domed mazar with a characteristic solution of the entrance in the form of an additional volume. The mazar has a circular base with a diameter of 7 m and a spherical-conical domed ceiling. has monumental forms even in its ruined state. According to folk tales, the Kanykei mausoleum was erected during the Kazakh-Jungar wars in the 17 th century. The place “Өrkendeu” in the Korgalzhyn district was considered a border zone between the Kazakhs and territories occupied by the Kalmyks. The border zone was a place of harsh confrontation between the warring parties, passing from one to the other.
