This pointcloud was produced in the framework of the Punta Manara Recovery project, an innitiative to valorize the submerged natural heritage present in Punta Manara by means of the stablishment of a three-dimensional baseline of some of the gorgonian forests present in the area.
In this second phase, by the identification and and mapping of coralligenous outcrops affected by lost fishing gears (LFG) it is possible to assess the level of damage caused by LFG on the structural complexity of the area to highlight the severity of the fishing impacts in the animal forests.
By recording LFGs distribution in the promotory, it will be possible to organize tailored expeditions on phase 3 in which these gears will be properly removed by trained volonteers. Establishing in the process a baseline to monitoring of the recovery of the affected areas.
