On the decade of 1930, when batteries were becoming increasingly developed and used, the petrol lamp was being replaced by battery lamps. They were called potlamps and had two main improvements compared to the previous ones: they not only created more light but were also safer, once they did not require the use of inflamable fuel.
The potlamps were composed of two main parts: the lower part, where the battery is; and the upper part, with a reflector and a light bulb. The light is protected by a sight glass.
