More model informationA post horn produced with photogrammetry in co-operation with The Finnish Postal Museum (member of Traffic Museums Association).
A post horn was used to signal the arrival or departure of a mounted postman or mail coach. The use of the post horn declined during the 19th century but it is still a symbol of the post. This horn (PM-ES-250) is a gift from the Finnish postal administration to captain Carl Korsman and dates from the late 19th century. The steamboat “Express”, owned by captain Korsman started carrying mail in the wintertime between Hanko and Stockholm in the 1870’s.
