More model informationDuring my recent visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Art I was told of a few surviving plaster casts that dated back to the early years after it was opened. I excitedly photographed just two of them–a copy of Nike adjusting her sandle from the temple of Athena Nike in Athens, and this superb cast of the Pitti Tondo by Michelangelo. I had to rush as they are in a meeting/dining area normally closed to the public and I wasn’t able to get some parts of the tondo. Still, I was thrilled to see just how large the Pitti Tondo must actually be.
