More model informationVisible in section and at the base of the excavation is a medieval pit. This was possibly dug to rob Roman building material. It was backfilled with the smaller fragments of stone, domestic rubbish and mortar. The pit was dug through layers of Roman occupation. These included a opus signinum floor which was overlain with a layer of painted plaster that is likely to have been pulled from the walls associated with the floor.
