Possible prehistorically carved section of rock on Piper’s Crag, Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.
This exposed area of probable outcrop was first noted by Jo Pinfield and Libby Jubb during recording by the CSI:Rombalds Moor project in 2012. They added the record ‘Piper’s Crag 03’ to ERA in 2012. Keith Boughey subsequently references the stone ‘IAG212b’ in his ongoing regional database / archive. Both archives describe two describe two small cups on the upper surface of the exposure.
This decimated model, created from a single stereo pair captured by Peter Butler (CSI Team) in June 2013, shows a possible third, cup-like depression on the vertical edge of the stone. The imagery forms part of the HLF funded CSI: Rombalds Moor / Watershed Landscape Project archive.
